On this week’s CORONATION STREET — We have an Exclusive Q&A with JANE DANSON who plays Leanne Battersby.
Nick is very suspicious about Peter’s behaviour, what are Leanne’s true feelings?
I think with all of those characters there’s always a bit of unfinished business. Genuinely this time around, Leanne is in the most settled position she’s been in but where there’s Peter there’s usually trouble! Peter likes to wind Nick up so there’s a lot of that going on between those two.
We have seen a few times that Peter and Leanne have been spending a lot of time together, can you tell us about this?
They are just having a nice time together. They are reminiscing about old times and you see snippets of why they actually liked each other in the first place but whether it will go anywhere is left to the viewer to interpret how they want to.
How does Leanne feel about Nick’s paranoia over Peter?
Leanne’s got enough on her plate; Steve is hovering around and that is all set to blow at some point. But Peter is always the thorn in Nick’s side at the best of times and there’s a lot of scope between those characters, especially over Christmas.
How will Leanne react to Peter’s mystery woman?
I honestly don’t know but Leanne knows Peter likes his ladies. Leanne only finds things out in dribs and drabs so I don’t know what repercussions are to come later.
How does Leanne feel when Toyah turns up at Christmas?
On screen, we know that when ever Leanne’s in trouble she runs away to our Toyah’s so they have seen each other. But Leanne doesn’t know as much about Toyah’s life as she thinks she should so when Toyah comes back with some problems in her own marriage, Leanne smells a rat.
How do you think Toyah will react to Leanne’s has another sister, Eva?
It could be a case of two’s company, three’s a crowd and they may get a bit competitive for her attention. But as usual Leanne is just left in the middle. But there’s lots of cope.
Does Toyah know the truth about the baby?
Not yet, no, they’re both harbouring lots of secrets, I think they need to have a little bit of an honesty session with each other.
How do you think Simon will react to finding out the truth about Leanne’s baby?
Peter and Leanne and Nick have always tried to protect Simon, especially Leanne really, given all the things he’s done in the last few years. She’s instilled in him recently is “Don’t make the mistakes I did, don’t lie” and there she is, covering up this massive lie.
